About the Initiative
From video game designers to teachers, sports journalists to STEM professionals, and everything in between, we’ve sought out untold stories and shared them with those in the midst of finding their own roads in life. These stories form the basis of our career exploration products—including an educational curriculum, personalized online tools, video content, bestselling books and live events. Together, these tools create a diverse and relevant collection of resources showing students and career seekers of all ages the vast scope of careers and possibilities for their futures.
Roadtrip Nation (RTN) has made it our mission to meet with professionals of every kind and ask the questions that no one is asking—honest questions about their struggles, successes and how they figured out the age-old dilemma, “What should I do with my life?”
Roadtrip Nation Experience
The Roadtrip Nation Experience is a project-based curriculum for high school students that combines engaging video interviews with introspective activities to help learners align their interests with compatible careers. It also develops real-world skills by guiding them to research, cold-call and conduct interviews with local leaders working in a field that interests them. This focus on self-discovery helps learners become more engaged in their career exploration, resulting in a proven increase in self-efficacy rates and academic performance.
What's it all about?
Every year, Roadtrip Nation selects industry-aligned and/or socially relevant issues, such as cybersecurity, women in STEM or first-gen college students as themes for our roadtrips. Roadtrip participants and interviewees are then selected based on the theme. The content from these Roadtrips is the backbone of both our media platform and educational content
Roadtrip Nation’s Interview Archive contains over 7,000 interviews representing individuals from all walks of life sharing their stories, gathered from 15 years of roadtrips. The content is distributed across multiple channels through a network of distribution partners including Naviance and the College Board, which currently reaches 13,000+ schools and 14 million students. Peruse the Interview Archive by searching by interests, motivational themes and foundational characteristics.
Share Your Road
Share Your Road is a crowd-sourced, digital storytelling platform that prompts professionals who have built fulfilling careers to reflect on their educational and career experiences. Participants create profiles, which are housed in the Interview Archive, and share constructive advice with learners about overcoming hardships, steps they took to reach their goals, the education needed to pursue their profession and the skills that have been most valuable throughout their journeys. The Share Your Road platform can even be customized to focus on a particular audience or individuals within a specific organization.
Learners on a path of self-discovery answer a sequence of questions through The Roadmap game-like tool, and are matched with the roadtrip videos and Share Your Road profiles of professionals in the Interview Archive who share their interests. Through this exploration, learners gain visibility into a multitude of career pathways they might not have known about otherwise and valuable insight on how to make their aspirations a reality
